The UEA's award-winning sports coverage returned this year, as UEA once again took on the University of Essex in their annual Derby Day.
Livewire provided live coverage of the whole event, including live commentary of the men's rugby, women's rugby, and dance finale.
First, Alfie Green and Jade Drever braved the wind and rain to watch a decisive victory for the UEA in the women's rugby (72-7). Here are the highlights!
The pair were accompanied on the airwaves by George Cooke, from the warmth of a makeshift studio at Essex's student radio station, Rebel.
After a short break in the warm, Alfie and Jade returned to the pitch for the men's rugby...
UEA clinched the victory over Essex, with a final score of 20-17, but the event was far closer than the rugby result let on. The final event score was decided at the last event, the dance.
Lucy Potter and Concrete's Sofia Royal commentated on the whopping two-hour showcase, and caught the final trophy lift - 'but for who, Chris Kamara?'
After Derby Day came to a close, the team (who'd been awake since 5am!) returned to Livewire HQ. There, a second team had put on nearly 12 hours of coverage throughout the day, including a very high budget Livewire sports day!
Livewire were honoured to cover UEA's 10th victory in a row at Derby Day. A massive THANK YOU to everyone who helped with the day's coverage, in Norwich and in Essex.
Thanks, too, to our friends at Rebel for their help and hospitality on the day.
Better luck next year, Essex!
